Our Research
As part of our work, we conduct research to understand the landscape of transition for youth with visual impairments, with an emphasis on improving secondary transition outcomes in rural contexts.

Research Importance
Our research is important for two primary reasons:
- It enhances the quality of our work, ensuring we develop resources and materials that are high-quality, useful, reflective of the voices of individuals with disabilities, and relevant to our target populations.
- It allows us to share our findings with the broader blindness/low vision field to educate others about the specific strengths and needs of our target population.

How To Use Our Research
Our research focuses on elevating the experiences of blind/low-vision youth and adults and translating those insights into practical guidance through published manuscripts, short accessible research briefs, and pre-recorded video summaries. Our findings are designed to inspire change, inform policy and practice, and support stronger transition outcomes for all blind and low vision youth.

Students
Use our findings to understand your rights, advocate for your goals, and take ownership of your learning and transition planning.

Families
Apply key takeaways to strengthen support at home and in the community, helping youth build skills, confidence, and readiness for adulthood.

Professionals
Draw on current data about the field to improve your practice, design stronger transition supports, and align services with what youth say they need to succeed
